I remember Carla telling me they raced with twin Homelite 55 4 strokes. I could be wrong. Carla is that right? I thought it strange that Homelite made 4s.
Hey Steve did you roast the 454 or are you just brushing up on your chine walking skills?

It's a very long story. I'll try to make it short. A week after we got back from Bimini I was going up the river and hit a sumerged stump as a result it knocked the outdrive off tearing a large hole in the gimble housing and damn near sinking the boat. If it wouldn't been of some fast thinking along with the boat having 2 rule 2000's pumps and my daughter being on my waverunner behind me, she would of been a goner. So I had to remove the 454 to get to the gimble housing. While the engine was out I discovered that it had 2 bent exhaust valves (that’s another story), so at that point it gave me an excuse to buy a ZZ502/502 crate engine. This engine has the steel crank, heavy-duty rods, and forged pistons, which the 454 didn't have. The funny thing is that the 454 ran fine. You couldn't tell that it had two cylinders down on compression. As a matter of fact it was that way when I took it to Long Point and Bimini.

Also I did a lot of up grading while the boat was down. The only thing that I don't like is the 502 doesn't cut up like the 454 did; however a little cam change will take care of that.
