Default Re: 1970's SF20 Stringer/Self-Bailing Inquiry

Most guys with 20 footers and under that in length that are replacing the deck will raise it 2-4” due to the weight of outboard engines now a days and because of the scuppers being at or very close to the water line. If they have a 20” transom they are raising the transom height to 25 and some to 30” as well.

As for the 23 footers most guys have not raised the deck but sum are starting to. If I were going to do it all over again And put twins on a bracket I would do it for sure for the same reason. The 23 runs great with 1 motor with or with out a bracket but some guys really like the safety of twins. I don’t care for the extra weight on the stern and how the 23 sits in the water with twins.
