After years of engineering and testing, actual production of Maritime Engineering Group's diesel outboards is scheduled to begin now in early 2009.
No word of prices, yet, but specs are now available at
MEG outboards 3.0L "Vision Diesel Outboard" site
300 hp, 723 lbs (25"), only 11 gph at WOT, and planned engline life of 8000 hours. Yes, that's
8000 (Eight Thousand !!) hours
Rumor has the initial purchase price in the mid to upper $30K range for the 3.0L, and low $30K range for the 2.3L. models.
If anybody has more info than I've managed to come up with, please post it. I love diesels
