The transmission of a radar signal is generally 25-30 degrees verticle on the line of transmission; that is 12.5-15 above and likewise below. (Check your manual/spec sheet or call the manufacturer to be sure.)

You will want to mount it high enough so that neither your heard or nuts are within that beam when it is turned on. Think microwave!

I get a sick kick out of the guys who mount their radars on the front of their flybridge and then sit at the bridge helm with their knees apart. Not good for the family jewels!
