Thats pretty ugly.

I just had mine in to the shop and he replaced the Exahust housing and took a good look at the other parts in that area. Evidently the etec runs a bit hotter than the older technology and caused the exhaust housing to crack. He said every one he gets in cracks until it is swaped out. Thats partly why I was asking the temp questions. Mine was replaced without any hesitation and he says it should be fine with the new part.

I have to wonder if you had a crack and a leak that got everyting else hot due to the exhaust heating up the paint. Not so sure that works down by the lower unit though.
