Default Re: 1974 23 CC - project

Thanks guys.

I am going with a good cleaning, then a de-waxer, then a thinned prime-coat and thinned topcoat of perfection over the old non-skid. I have tested a small area and it should work. The deck is off-white.

After 5 coats of Signature finish I called it done. I had applied the "3 coat system" and had a small area where I had a heater pointed @ the boat. Long story short the paint was going on to thin (my mistake). I took it all down with 220 grit and worked it up to 400ish grit and hit it 2 more times. Then I broke out the buffer and the 3M compound. I still need to wax/finish. It looks good now.

I had help this afternoon so we got the transom cap back on and the rub rail back on. Budget has me re-using 1974 rub rail which is next to perfect.

Gave the molded part thing a shot. Used tinted (white) epoxy, clay radius corners, and 1708 and tape to try to make my transom ice box lids.

The first time I tried to mold a part it didn’t part with the mold This looks like it should work. I'll know more tomorrow.
