It's flooding, probably due to dirty needle valve/float valve. The carbs need to be carefully rebuilt. It's an easy job, just requires patience and care.

As is, it's a serious fire hazard. Old Merc inline 6 motors with distrubuters were famous for flooding, dumping fuel when tilted up, and then igniting when next started.

Don't turn your motor into a barbeque, clean the carbs.
