strick the bracket will be mounted at 221/4'' above the keel to the top of the swim platform that will put the top of the bracket where the motor mounts at 281/2''from the keel. all the boats i see without a bracket all have a 20,25,or30''transom so there is no way you could lower a motor on those boats. in the past i've run all my motors a little higher up off the transom, less drag. using the 1'' per foot rule would put me at 271/2'' keel to top of bracket. i'm going to try 1.5'' per foot and hope i don't need to lower it
