Default Re: First Time Boat Project

I was able to get the console removed this week. Had to have my Dad and Brother come over to help get it in the garage. It's not that heavy but very awkward to move by myself. My son's (Alex 8 and Chase 3) had to get in on the fun with the tank removal. The previous owner did not use any sealant when he installed the tank and console and I believe that is why the floor is so bad. The inspection cover was also left off allowing water and pine needles to enter the coffin for years. The smell would practically make you puke! I also believe it has ruined the new fuel tank also.

The only thing I saved from the mess of harnesses and hoses was the Seastar steering hoses and I doubt I will even reuse those.

The tank was sitting in water since being installed a few years ago. It's a shame since the tank never had any fuel installed. The pitting is too deep for me to trust using it. I will take it and have it looked at by the shop that built it or another tank builder for evaluation.

I have to work next Saturday but will try and get the hull looked at for pricing the following Saturday for the numerous fiberglass repairs. I will then be able to decide what I will pay to have done or what I will try and tackle myself.
