My old '73 23 SF was twin 2-handle binnacle-mount Morse controls on the LEFT side of the helm, controlling twin Mercury 1500 inline 6 motors. The motor controls were actually pretty much centered on the console. The hydraulic helm was mounted in front of the right hand seat. I had the throttles together on one binnacle mount, and shifters on another, just to the left of the wheel. It was very awkward, but as I only owned the boat for a few months, I never changed it.
