I heard a marine catalog sales guy at my local Merc dealer talking about an aftermarket fuel injection kit for the late 80's to early 90's 2.4L carb'd Mercs. He claimed it gives 20-30% fuel savings with an unspecified increase in power, and works with the original Mercury oil injection system. Cost is supposed to be about $1200 - $1300. Do you know anything about this?
Seems to me that would make remanufacturing a 2.4 Merc REAL attractive, and puts fuel economy right in there close to the Opti's at 200 lbs less weight.
