Been there, done that.
Use a hose nipple and clamp the old and new hoses together at the gunwale. Don't cut the new hose to exact length until it's in place. Then pull the new hose into place using the old hose as the guide/snake. Make sure you clamp securely. Simple. Not easy, but simple.
