My brother and I just finished our transoms with the Arjay ceramic compound, which I'm told is the same as Nidacore. Check out both web sites, exact same info on both. We both did it the hard way, cut out the back of the transom, cleaned out all the wood, put the back back on and poured. I'm really impressed with this stuff!! Hardens like steel and as you know no rot ever. If you decide to go this way I'll give you some very important pointers from lessons learned. Oh yeah, it's only $120 per 5gal pail. My brother and I bought 7 pails and got a nice discount.
