We hasve been going every sometimes twice a year since 92 so here is my 2 C worth. I love Islamorada for several reasons. The fishing is incredible, both inshore, and offshore. You are close to several geat protected dive areas as well as several great wrecks in the 90-100' mark.
We use Drop Anchor resort. They have only about 20 rooms, each one has a full kitchen, and fridge. They are directly on the Atlantic, and 2 minutes from open water, and even have a ramp. It is usualy peaceful quiet, respectful, and beautiful there. We have some geat fishing spots close in and the flats near the resort have some of the best tarpon, and bonefish fishing in the entire keys. offshore you have the humps, and right now there are lots of sailfish near the reefs edge.
