Default Re: New lighter Yammie 4-strokes

Muddywater- I did a google search on these new 4.2 L motors and a new 70HP that weighs 260lbs! The stat sheet from the offshore version was in fact on the web 2 days ago. The weights: 505 for the 250 VMAX and the new Offshore 25/30 inch 4.2 V-6 300 / 250 / 225 / 200? weighs around 555 lbs. which is still amazing. Besides the cylinder walls and other great weight reductions, the Muffler IS NOT on the VMAX, but is on the Offshore motors. The muffler comes in at 26 Lbs.. I was just in Chattanooga last week, but was not there spying! They had a big event in November at their Alabama lake test site.

Back to the 150 - 175 4 stroke weight scenario................If the 70 hp is 100 lbs lighter than their existing 75 hp 4 stroke, then it looks good that a 400lb 150 could be coming, which is earthshattering news for our SC's weight concerns. Another final note on the Yamaha info sheet........the current 250 with the 3.3L? block will get retro-fit for seastar / traditional cable controls for the repower market. The SUZ DF300 may have some competition now........The release date is Spring 2010.

Darn, I was really hoping to get that 800 + lb.V-8 YAMI 300 on the back of my 23
