Ken good luck!! One small piece of advice for what it is worth. If you are really interested in it, you may want to try to track down the title before you acquire it if possible.. If the boat is located in Florida, I know a little bit about title issues. I am a real estate attorney and, in addition to my 23 seacraft, I own a 20 ft. sailboat (compliments of a local marina) with no title.. It has been a major fight trying to get a title in order to register it. I have it worked out now but it has taken some serious, serious creativity on my part... At any rate, if the boat is salvagable, I would hate to sink a bunch of $$$ in it and then have title issues. Just my 2 cents..... 27 seacrafts are tanks for sure...

The above is very good advice. But you can sink a lot of time and money into obtaining previous title, too. If all else fails, if you can show receipts for rebuilding materials which amount to more than the purchase price of the hull (51% or more of the value at time of registration), you can easily title it as a homemade boat. I've done this 3 times.
