Re: I Need A Shrink !
Progress has been slowed some on the 25 seafari but I have managed to get a little work accomplished over the last two weeks.
The seat boxes have been painted
Holes were cut for the Plumbing for the live well and fish box. The fish box will have one drain and the live well will have a fill, drain and overflow. A little thought had to go into were these holes were cut because the hoses for these fittings will route under the deck and back to the transom. I had to put the seat boxes in the boat to get the right measurements.
with that out of the way I then glassed the live well and fish box to the underside of the seat boxes. I first glued them in place with some construction adhesive and then used 6" 1708 tape around the perimeter. A bead of 3M 4200 was run around the perimeter on the inside to ensure there will be no leaks.
That was allowed to set up overnight and then I used spray foam to insulate. The spray foam worked great and was a cheap and efficient way to insulate. It was a little tedious to apply and I had to make an extension off the can to reach deep into the seat box but I got good coverage. It is compatible with polyester resin.
I needed to make a bulkhead for the anchor locker since this boat did not come with one. Since my molding table is a mess right now I waxed and buffed a piece of hard board and then sprayed with PVA.
50/50 White Gel coat and duratec high gloss clear additive was brushed on and then 2 layers of heavy matt
I borrowed the bulkhead out of the other 25 seafari to use as a template and cut a $38 piece of 3/4 ply and then glued it down with cabosil.
The finished bulkhead. The back and and edges will get a nice heavy layer of Gelcoat
A couple weekends ago I turned the boat port into a spray booth again by tarping off both ends.
and I was finally able to get the sides of the hull sprayed. This is Awlgrip Kingstone Gray. I still have to apply the boot stripe.
The tower is in the shop as it needs some work prior to painting. It will get painted Awlgrip off white.
This evening we secured the top cap to the hull with ss bolts and aluminum rivets. I will post again as soon as I get something worth posting. Time to go watch some Deadliest Catch re-runs.
