I have 225 Etec that is 2006 i have had issues with the lower unit few times but never had a problem with the warranty program. I can tell you that if your motor is warrantied for 5 years than the first three are from BRP. The other 2 years are from a company called FPC it is a third party that warranties the motors after BRP is done warrantying them. Ive delt with them a few times and have not had a prob. The only thing that i don't like is that they give you all remanufactered parts not NEW
. Don't worry i have 2200 hrs on my motor and all i do is replace the water pump every 200 hrs and do the fuel filter and plugs every 100hrs, and the motor still runs like the day i bought it. Oh yeah and i run XD100 oil that probably helps too.
