I had a problem with these standard vents getting whacked because they stuck out way past the rub rail. (I guess I can't dock very well) Anyway they had to be cut and shaved to fit
I grabbed a set of the smaller (width wise) ones. They have a flush back and glued them to 1/4" PVC board and then painted them. They are just shy of the rail now. The fronts are the same.
Just another idea here you can try....
