I was wondering what i should do for an exhaust system on the boat since the outlet is going to be under the water line most of the time. Should I just use a flapper and a wye surge tube? or do the make a inline underwater muffler I can't seem to find much info on this matter (or just don't know where to look!)
I am just talking through my HAT here so take it for what its worth.

On all inboard engines you have to be aware of static lift (so I am told) what it is and how it works is beyond me. Except that if the exhaust risers are to low you will (can) suck in water.

On the last true in board I had the exhaust ports where at water line level and they had flapper vales on them.

I am sure someone will chime in that knows a whole lot more than my garble.
