I would normally skip 320 and go right to 400, 600, 800, puff twice with the imperial then fleetwax. Gel coat is a lot of work but it is the best in my opinion. Congrats on the acquisition, and welcome to the site. The best thing I've ever seen for gelcoat restoration is a product called Poly Glo. Search this site for the past three years and you can read all about it. It takes less elbow grease than buffing and wax, and requires much less maintenance. Did mine two years ago and it still shines.
