Re: Hows the ride and performance of the 23' Septre ?
I have a 1975, 23' Tsunami with a 300 hp i/o and a Bravo 3 drive. Great riding boat. I can't imagine it better with any other setup ( although I miss the simplicity of an o/b's maintenance ).
Cuts through a 2-4' head sea, short-chop very well. Takes seas off the front quarter sea well too. Following seas are also a nice ride with drive trimmed up a bit and the right speed.
Trim tabs A MUST ! She will lean into any incomimg sea and pound on her chine unless you correct with trim. This is my first deep V boat; I understand that is a commom characteristic.
Under normal seas - a 1-2' short-chop, she likes the drive trim to be almost at home... Cuts through like a knife.
Personally, I love the boat. There are a few nice boats out there in her class; 25' bertam moppie, 24' albemarle, old 23' Formulas ( Albie design ), Seabird to name a few...
All worth restoring. But, an old SC can't be beat.
