Whink has been my preference for most rust stains, of course you could use oxalic acid mixed hot, muriatiac acid, on/off, tsp, vinegar, clr, etc., but the harsher methods will strip the moisture right out of the gelcoat and be even tougher on a painted surface. The weaker products just don't cut it sometimes. Just like with solvents, use the weakest product that will get the job done and understand the surface you are using it on. Just my humble opinion.

Thank goodness that in the scheme of things you are broke, powerlesss and inconsequential, because with the shortsighted alternatives and idealogy you have you'd be much worse than those you complain about.
