I have a buddy with a 24 Nauset CC, his console is far back enough where they mounted the leaning post right on top of the engine box (on 4in legs). I am not sure how much room you have between your leaning post and the box. I would find a used leaning post, chopping the legs off add some flat flanges and bolt it down. If you wanted to get fancy, add some short rod holder type tubes to the top of the box, and then you could slip the new leaning post in and out.
