I suggest you set a date and see what happens. Us New Englanders seem a bit challenged when it comes to committing to these gatherings whereas our southern brethren jump at the chance.
In the past the ones that have succeeded around here (Newport a couple years and Barnstable Harbor another) did so because a date was set and people showed up.
As the saying goes, "build it and they will come".
