Red-

Time is the main reason. That said I did build my own live well on the 25 seafari.

I really like the kodiak live wells for a couple of reasons...one is that they have a directional water flow with water jets that push the water in a circular fashion around the tank FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. So instead of having an angled fitting shooting water from one location around the tank the kodiak has jets that push water from the bottom of the tank to the top of the tank in a circular fashion. They also have a recessed area on the bottom of the tank for a light. The tanks are built very nice and priced reasonably so that by the time you add up the costs of what it would take to duplicate it you would be in the same ball park figure.

As far as the bracket molds go they are cheap "one off" wood molds that would probably warp over time and become useless. Also they could not be moved around without damaging them as they are not sturdy enough to with stand much movement. Also I am not in the business of building brackets for anyone but myself so who knows when and if I would ever use them again.

Just an FYI if anyone thinks for a second that it will be an easy task to build your own bracket think again. Bill and I spent six solid hours non stop on Sunday (except to sip on a beer occasionally) laying up what you see in the pictures. That does not count the time I spent building the mold...the time I spent cutting all the glass and the time we will spend building the top half of the mold and laying it up...popping it out of the mold sanding it and painting it etc...etc...etc...
