Fuel supply can be a problem after a storm if the gas stations have lost power, which is why I previously suggested converting genny to run on natural gas if available. If boat is at your house, it can be a good fuel supply source for both car and generator. I have an outboard barb connector tee'd into my fuel line downstream of the Racor to make it easy to drain fuel for that purpose.
We get enough storms here that a law was passed after hurricane Wilma requiring all gas stations to have generators big enough to run the pumps. The large Publix grocery stores also have big diesel generators to keep the freezers going after a storm, making it easier to find ice and food IF you can get there. But the bottom line is we've learned that you MUST plan to be totally self sufficient for at least 3-5 days after a bad storm because it takes that long for FEMA and Red Cross to start getting ice, food and water distributed in significant quantities at enough locations!
