Default 13 whaler mini project

Today I bought for my younger son a 1973 whaler 13' from someone that lives 500 ft away from my driveway.

It had not been used since 2006 came with a junk trailer but it did come with a 2000 Johnson 40hp electric start with trim and tilt that looks in pretty good shape.

Needs to redo or replace the wood work and a major cleaning and wax job.

Needs a new tele flex cable

Best part I got it for $500

Was told that for most of it's life it was stored in a garage

The gel coat on the out side is in very good shape it just is just dirty and on one one side it has some rust stains from the yard sprinkler.

Was able to clean most of the dirty parts with degreaser but the rust stains were a little harder to get out. Any ideas on how to get it off easily?

With compound and wax it should look pretty good

The inside has some of the typical spider cracks but not much and with some degreaser it looks pretty nice.

The engine looks like it was taken care of with no rust and the fly wheel turns and looks like it has compression.

MY son is very excited and wants to get it in the water now.

Tomorrow I imagine I will have a busy day
