If you are choosing to keep the Batteries in their current location, be advised that the floors like to rot. I would recommend the following:

1.) Redo the battery boxes with Nida Core. PVC board or the like & fiberglass.

2.) Config a "Gutter System" to the inside lip & tie in drain lines to the self bales. This will prevent you having to seal & unseal the hatch to maintain or fully inspect the battieries from those small deck pie plates.

3.) Hinge the Deck Plate to the Splash Well

4.) Note the support piece running over the fuel tank under the gutter. This will stop the flex between the Gas Tank deck piece and the new Battery Box hinged Lid.

This was done prior to my transom enclose. I made the drains out of PVC Pipe. Call me if you want further clarification.

Last picture shows a "Gucci" hatch !!!
