I had a Humminbird Matrix 47 3D fish finder that went bad in less than 5 years. It was stored indoors. You may find it's the unit, not the antenna. My suggestion would be to go with Garmin for your GPS. They're more expensive, but you get what you pay for. If Garmin is too pricey, Lowrance makes some economical units that work well, just not as well as a Garmin.
