BRP recommends mounting the motor high enough that the top of the anti-ventilation plate is dry when you're up on plane to minimize lower unit drag. If you're running a good stainless prop, mounting motor so AV plate is about an inch above bottom of hull should get you in the ball park. Some props can be run higher than others.
