Don't run it up durring the auction put it on your watch list and only bid at the last few seconds. There is no reason to run it up any higher than you have to. I try to do the same,by bidding at the last minute.A few days ago I tried to win a couple rod holders and waited for the last few seconds,put one bid in and was the winner for a second,but someone beat me to it when I waited a bit to long to up my bid.
In the end I was glad I lost,because I got caught up in a craze and left my common sense at the door.
Sometimes,I think it's more about beating the other person than it is about getting the item for a good price.For a moment I lost my grip on reality by bidding way more than I had planned to.
