Barbour plastics. For the purpose of my boat, no they didnt help. They kept the tabs from performing to their max by more resistence. Then when you would be riding in chop you could feel a slight..."bump"... when the waves would hit the rails. Basically didnt allow the boat to slice thru the water.
Now this 1967 bowrider im redoing has no hard chine on the outer edge of the hull. So the bottom of the hull at the front goes striaght up to the sides of the hull. So this may need some skinny rails to help deflect water.
