Hey Josh, I really like the top much more than canvas and there isn't a noise issue. The top is pretty heavy, but more becuase it's just a big top and extra tall. I'm 6'6" and sick of hitting my head on rod holders etc... J&J custom made this for me. I honestly don't know what the exact material is on the top.

Heynow, I think a 300 is probably the right number diesel wise. I don't think there's enough room to swing a big enough wheel to support the power of the 370. I won't go diesel unless I can have a 26 knot plus cruise. The Volkswagon TDI packaged by Cummins is a sweet little motor, but I'm not sure it has enough power for the cruise I want. I may have to get a ride on one with a 315 Yanmar.
