EXCUSE ME? Are you freaking serious? really? And you know what about me and my engine and whom works on it? .01 centissimo? I have detected in this CSC forum of late some attitude, not meant in spirit of help, some might be in jest and I usually take that just fine and laugh, but I am taking it personally on this.

Let's get some things straight here so you 'do not let common sense get in your way'.. as it clearly has.

I have a great relationship with my local Merc dealer. They are a top notch Merc (and other brands) shop. The head tech over there is fantastic, the entire tech dept is fantastic. The guys at the service desk are top notch. I know many of them by name, and gladly share beers when I see them off work. I can call my local merc dealer and they treat me with absolute respect and priority-and I am not a wealthy summer customer. It's just how they treat people. Well out of warranty they have gone to bat for me. I spend thousands on maintenance and parts and can produce receipts from my local Merc dealer, in fact my boat is sitting there right now since I sold my house and rent and cannot work on the engine easily. I choose to do as much work on my boat and engine as I can, and in that effort to reduce costs, I do source parts from SIM in WI. I am as well a paying member at veradoclub.com to gain knowledge about my engine. SIM supports that site.

Local Cape Cod Merc dealer part prices are higher. As are a lot of items on Cape Cod boating related or Not. If I need a Merc part ASAP I buy from my local dealer. If I buy a Lower Unit like last year, I buy it local dealer in Orleans. When I plan on doing my own routine maintenance, and am running my SC during the summer, bass season, I choose to do all the routine maintenance I can myself and source those routine parts and oil at a much cheaper price. I then take the boat into my local dealer, with the list of items I have serviced, and ask for the balance of the 100 or 500 hr service, and a laptop diagnostic.

Is that okay with you? Does this make sense to you?

Do you buy anything off the internet that's cheaper, but could be bought locally at a higher price?

If you cannot be helpful, maybe keep your clam pie shut, and 'do not let common sense get in your way'.
