Just off the phone with Cayman Pumpkin. I had thought it may be the fill hose, but had no thoughts of how to isolate that.

So in the spirit of CSC, I will pass this along. Plug the vent fitting on the tank. Fill the tank
all the way up the fill hose to the threads for the cap. Open beer and watch. If level drops fast, it may just be a bad fill hose. May. Of course when the wire in the hose starts to corrode, the hose explodes. Mine looks ruff by the tank. Both are 25 yrs old.
