, but I might be onto something recently, last 3 trips have hooked up and/or landed fish. Before that it was about a 30% chance. Getting the bites and hooking up is more than half the battle. There is a lot to learn and Im just getting started.
GFS, Im not sure how well the wire will work, I do know one old school guy who has done it that way. With 3 mph current, the line needs to be narrow or you never get to bottom. The 80 and 100 hollow core are the same diameter and they can be spliced. My previous rod had 130 braid on it and I could not get to bottom even with 17 lbs of weight.

its a lot of pressure, at strike Im probably at 30+ lbs of drag and you can see the cap flexing a bit. I think the swivel base is pretty much mandatory for me
