It's funny how the obsession over attaining top speed outshines all the other important considerations like mid-range fuel consumption, sea handling and planing. I guess if I lived on a lake it would be more important but I use my SeaCraft in the sea where top speed capabilities fall to the bottom of list.

LOL Ken... Not all of Us are so blessed to have the Keys and Bahamas in our backyard Brother... It's only 18 degrees here now...HA!
Since we cant run in 4 and 5 footers all day we have to do something different like have a Boat that's a Speed Demon and then when it really matters chews through the waves like a Godzilla T-Rex Chomp.
If i lived in your Neck of the woods I would just slap on a New Gen 2 450 ETEC V8 and call it good... Oh wait, that motor is probably 2 years out still.
Or if SUZUKI would ever Bring on the 400hp or 450hp even better. Compete with the 557 at seven marine.
