Might yield high mpg too. Saw over in Europe, or the UK where boaters use the smallest possible outboard power, likely to reduce fuel use. Here though, we tend to go with a " more than needed " approach, and it works out well. I didn't need to move from 150 to 200 on my V21 boat, but I like it!

Also, at around 3,800 rpm the big block Etec 200 HO purrs like it's barely running, and fuel use is minimal.
I like the idea of 250-300hp on Seacraft 23 to generate high cruising speed when conditions are good and not push the motor. Maybe it's overkill.
