Skipjacks are referred by some as tippy skippys, they where built in Socal and are a west coast Icon down there. Jack Cole was a boat builder and avid fisherman and designed them to get you 60 miles out and run back home uphill. So the dead rise is a trade off. He made them in the Open and Flybridge design. My Aluminum PH is a lot lighter then the FB fiberglass model. I fished in a friends 24' open many times, it would mow right over the slop but it was wet too, hence the PH. I agree with a second skiff. I have couple other boats, and one is a 15' Boston Whaler. Love that little skiff but we want something a little bigger and I want it in a CC. It's nice to have for those days when you don't need the big boat,,,gregg
