Its very handy stuff for making quick molds. I have actually used a Sherman-Williams quick dry easy sand primer, then PVA for quick molds. It's a fraction of the cost. Just depends how many parts you are making and how perfect the finish needs to be.
If you look in my coffin box build thread, the white surfaces are either melamine or primed MDF with the Sherman-Williams stuff
