I put a 300 Suzuki on the transom of my '98. The stern does sit a little deeper in the water but not to the point of getting water on the deck. I think if you move the mounting point back with a jack plate it will give the weight of the motor more leverage to lower the stern. I had the new motor mounted in the same hole as the 225 Opti that I took off, center of five holes. The Suzuki seems to mount lower, I don't think it's just the weight difference, it looks like the whole mount sits lower on the transom. I'm thinking I might have to raise it one hole. I wouldn't bother with any setback.
