Sandy, The Coast Guard no longer tows vessels. They have many more pressing issues that must be addressed, monitored and acted upon such as 1) a wave runner causing a ripple in a "No Wake Zone" 2) a fisherman in possession of a gut hooked grouper which is 1/4" undersized or 3) a dive boat not having a throwable floatation device. How in the heck are you going to "spring into action" with flashing lights and sirens, to take care of these matters when you'er messing around towing a 20' "hazard to navigation"? They do monitor channel 16 though. Just remember, it's not your father's Coast Guard any more. Also please be advised that channel 16 is for "hailing and distress" only - so don't be talking about where to anchor the Race Boat at Peanut Island on channel 16 - even on low power!
