Aw crap Donny, I was running down that Bayport Channel with a couple of my dive buddies just after daylight, sipping coffee and talkin chit, plottin' against the hogfish, mangos and white folk coming up with a plan for the day. Not paying attention and BSin' around, I ran that toad Moppie up on the north rock pile. I looked up just in time to see the giant "DANGER ROCKS" sign and chopped the throttles but I hit pretty hard and I thought both engines were going to end up in the cockpit. It went over a bunch of rocks and settled in a little pool. I popped the hatches open to see if we were taking on water and it was dry. We drug it out to deeper water and dove underneath it to see how bad things were since there was blue bottom paint and fiberglass shards in a line across the rocks. The through hulls and transducers were still in place but the hull had two 8' long gouges in it 3/8" of an inch deep. I was sick to my stomach.

However both motors trimmed back down and started right up. Only one would go into reverse because the nose cone was stove in, but there was no oil coming out anywhere, so being the Salty Salts we are, we went out diving for the day and just dropped the lower unit off that evening when we got in. My brother says I could "tear up an anvil and break a bowling ball". I learnt to be totally focused on that channel when I go out. Nobody is allowed to talk to the captain until we get to the Bird Rack now. You need to be careful sometimes in life; that not be'in carefull can be both 'spensive and time consuming too.
