I had a t-top on both my 20' (pictured in the previous post), and on my 1976 18'.
From my now somewhat dim memory I think both of them were 3x5' which was a nice size for those boats. I suspect the details on the top on my 20' are somewhere listed on this site but my search abilities are less than stellar.
If you can deal with a builder who is willing to deviate from their standard production line, you can have a very clean/simple top built. If you are given two different options on pipe diameter, go with the thicker if for no other reason than aesthetics. And, lean towards having it overbuilt, tops can take a lot of stress with humans bracing against them in rough conditions.
Be sure to really think about rod holders and all potential electronics/light brackets before the build. They can be added after the fact but it's far cleaner if they are all done during the initial build. I had Weblon on my 20' that is pictured in that link and was very happy with that material (white on top, grey underneath).
