Seacraft 21, advice needed!
Hi there, I’ve been offered a Seacraft center console, it measures 21’ and I’m told it’s from the early 2000’s. I know it’s not as old as most featured here but it does seem to have the potential to be a great boat. The owner is indisposed at the moment so I’m trying to find out a little more about it, what to look for to assess it condition and perhaps some thoughts as to it’s value.
On initial inspection it looks a little tired, but with no obvious damage or marks, topsides are dull and discoloured but the hull and bright work looks to be in great shape. Obviously need help in pointing me in the direction of what and where to look structurally, how are they for stringers and fuel tanks for instance? It’s serial number starts SXCRA504.
It should clean up really well, but would then benefit from new instruments, switches, a seat recover, new t-top material and anti-foul. It has been sitting out on a Seacraft trailer in the Floridian sun for a few years. It currently has a Mercury Optimax 150hp outboard which looks to have seen better days, the meter is showing over a thousand hours.
So another question there is what would the recommendation be for a re-power, I’m not a fisherman but I would like to maximise it’s speed potential, it does seem a heavy boat but what kind of power will the hull take without compromising the ride?
They do look a great classic boat and I thought they would have an enthusiast’s following, so glad to have been pointed in the direction of your forum.
Any thoughts and advice much appreciated!
Many thanks, Mike
