I remember seeing that “wedge” on the outer panel on my Seafari. As I remember, you could see it by sighting aft along the chine from forward. Seems like it started about 8-10’ forward of the tramson. All the other panels were straight and I believe that wedge was part of the original design.It probably explains why all the original 20’ models when powered by the lightweight 1960’s vintage motors could plane at ~12 mpn. Since a deep V hull develops more lift and rises higher out of the water as you increase speed, the wedge is only effective at low speed. By the time you get up to about 40 mph, the outer panel is almost completely out of the water, the wedge has no effect on performance at high speeds.
