I don't think it's the same as with "classic" cars, where matching numbers, original/period correct wheels, tires, paint, interior, etc., can lead to dramatically higher valuations. I doubt many of us would prefer (or pay a premium for) a boat with 40-50 year old engines, radios, bilge pumps, canvas, etc. IMHO quality repairs, replacements and upgrades increase desirability and value, and don't take away from the classic DNA of the boats. But then that's just my opinion!
