Potter told me one time. You can drill a 1" (easy size to plug up later)hole at the bottom aft. Insert a 1"Dx12"L Nylon piece of rope, therefore creating a "Wick System" for absorbing any water within the stringer & draining it into the bilge. I always hated raising the decks which puts more pressure against your knees aft plus safety is compromised with low gunwhales. Proper deck drainage (wet feet) is not hard to correct the existing thru deck scuppers. Carl Moesly's "Criss-Cross" out the transome is just one of the fixes.
