Today's engines (4 strokes) are very reliable. I made many 100mi Bahamas crossings in my 23' with a single 2 stroke with good luck. Always traveled with a buddy boat!
TWINS? "Double Expense & Double Trouble"
BTW: a single 150hp should you loose one might not get a 23' up on plane.
If you choose a bracket make sure it's a flotation type & if it's a TWIN BRACKET, and you decide on a SINGLE motor later, you have to have a 30" shaft.
